Interview with Blakk North (The Lyrical Truthologist)

Southeast Hip Hop Magazine recently sat down with rising Ohio based emcee, Blakk North AKA The Lyrical "Truthologist".  In this in-depth, one on one interview Blakk North talks about his new album Creation, the types of subjects he tackles in his music and more! Read all about what he has to say in this interview below.

Southeast Hip Hop Magazine:  How are you doing Blakk North, are you ready for this interview?
Blakk North:  Yes

Southeast Hip Hop Magazine:  Why do you call yourself Blakk North?
Blakk North:   Blakk North comes from the idea of ones journey inward to knowledge of self through the Creator. The North part is me heading upward toward the mind/ brain thus using the energy of the Creator to open the spiritual/ third eye to see the truth of the Creator.  Blakk is name of the apprentice who learns the ways of the Creator.

Southeast Hip Hop Magazine:  You are from Ohio, how is the hip hop scene where you are from?
Blakk North:  The scene here exist but has no real outlets. Plus artist nor people stick together in support of each other.  This makes it hard to have a successful career unless you promote outside of the city.  This we call the Jesus Theory meaning if you can't get love at home go else where.

Southeast Hip Hop Magazine:  The lead single to your current album Creation is titled "Freedom", for those that may have not heard the single yet how would you describe it?  What is the single about?
Blakk North:   Freedom express the cries of people looking to be free from hatred, fear, pain, sorrow, separation, divide, and manipulation.  It's about standing together as one race....THE HUMAN RACE....WITH THE CREATOR LEADING THE WAY...

Southeast Hip Hop Magazine:  What are your thoughts on all this police brutality going on in America on young black men?
Blakk North:  I believe we need to teach our youth not to express themselves all over the Internet media holding guns.  Posting videos talking about what they going to do to people if they come to their hood and so on.  This doesn't make cops right in shooting first and asking questions later. Every person should be held accountable for their actions just like with any job you work at.  However, until we as a people commit to unity and stop our hatred for ourselves and for others nothing will change.  We must stop trying define each others cultures and learn from each other.  Thus building relationships that advance us toward peace and intellectual upliftment.

Southeast Hip Hop Magazine:  You touch on a lot of heavy issues in your music, what are some of the topics and subjects you tackle in your songs?
Blakk North:  I touch on fathers who try to be fathers but are being messed over by woman who use the children to hurt the fathers.  I speak on finding peace within yourself through the Creator and realizing we are all one.  I talk about Karma and how it can hit you in ways you didn't expect and have negative consequences.

Southeast Hip Hop Magazine:   How would you describe the overall feel of your current project Creation?
Blakk North:  The overall feel of the album is to teach a person that you are not alone in your struggles.  However, this is how you can over come it through the help of the Creator.
